Privacy policy
Verbis is a word game published by Veexus Games (operated by Viorel Olariu, Romania — "we", "us"). This policy explains what data the Verbis app collects, why, who can see it, and what choices you have. Contact: hello@veexus.org
What we collect
Data you give us
- Nickname — the name you choose. Please do not use your real full name.
Data created when you play
- Game progress and statistics — games played, wins, streaks, guess distribution, language and word-length preferences.
- Daily results — for each day and language: number of attempts and time taken (never the word itself).
- Leaderboard entries — your nickname and scores per language and period.
- Friends — your friend code, the list of friends you added or accepted, and pending friend requests.
- Duel data — room code, the word played, participants' nicknames and identifiers, rounds, progress and results; duel invitations sent between friends. A duel room lasts at most one hour from creation. Duel rooms and invitations are deleted automatically within 24 hours after they expire.
- Transfer code — if you choose to move your progress to a new device, a one-time code is created; it is deleted when used, and you can revoke it.
- Identifiers — a random account identifier (anonymous sign-in) and a separate player ID, created automatically so your progress can be saved. They are not linked to your name, email or phone number.
Data collected automatically by third-party services
- Advertising (Google AdMob): advertising ID, IP address, device and app information, ad interactions. Used to show and measure ads and, only where you consent, to personalise them. On first launch in the EU/EEA/UK you are asked for consent; you can change your choice anytime in Settings → Ad privacy.
- Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics): when the app crashes, technical information is sent — device model, OS version, app version, the anonymous account identifier and the crash details. Used only to find and fix bugs.
Daily reminder: if you turn it on, the reminder is scheduled locally on your phone; no data is sent to us for it.
We do not use analytics tracking, and we do not collect your contacts, location, photos, microphone or camera. Verbis currently has no in-app purchases.
Who can see what
- Other players can see your nickname and scores in leaderboards, your nickname and results in duels you join, and — if they know your player ID or friend code — your nickname and friend code.
- Your friends can see your nickname and, per day and language, how many attempts and how much time you needed (never the word).
- Everything else (your statistics, your account identifiers' links, your friends list, your transfer codes) is private to your profile.
Why we use it (and legal basis under GDPR)
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Running the game, saving progress, leaderboards, friends and Duels | Performance of the service you requested (Art. 6(1)(b)) |
| Non-personalised ads that keep the game free | Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Personalised ads | Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) |
| Crash reports, fixing bugs, preventing abuse and cheating | Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) |

How long we keep it
- Account, progress, statistics, daily results, leaderboard entries and friends: until you ask us to delete your game data, or after [24] months of inactivity.
- Duel rooms and duel invitations: A duel room lasts at most one hour from creation. Duel rooms and invitations are deleted automatically within 24 hours after they expire.
- Transfer codes: deleted when used or revoked.
- Crash reports: up to 90 days.
- Advertising data: according to Google's retention policies.
Your rights and deleting your data
You can request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, object to processing, and withdraw consent at any time. Verbis has no login: the first time you open the app, an anonymous profile is created automatically, with a player ID shown in Settings. We use it to find and delete your data. To delete your game data, follow the steps at games.veexus.org/verbis/delete-account or email hello@veexus.org with your nickname and player ID; we delete it within 30 days. You may also complain to the Romanian data protection authority, ANSPDCP (www.dataprotection.ro).
Children
Verbis is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
